Everything you need to know

We do not run a box office on site – from Friday, 10:00, tickets can be bought online at any time. If you would like to come spontaneously, please check before you travel whether tickets are still available.

When you arrive at the venue we scan your online ticket and hand you your festival wristband for the festival and any side events you booked.

Yes – and in 2027 more than ever: Sunday is our family day. Children and teenagers up to 14 get in free, the kids' tournament “Spü Masterchen” lets the youngest play for their own title, and at the Family Stage our junior explainer bears help them get started. You can find all the details in the event programme.

Yes, there are several stands with snacks and drinks right on the premises. The on-site restaurant serves regional dishes as well as vegetarian options. Please note that food and drink brought from outside may not be consumed on the premises.

We do our best to make the festival as accessible as possible. If you have specific requirements, please contact us in advance.

Travelling from Munich, you can take the motorway all the way to Kufstein without needing an Austrian motorway toll sticker (Vignette). Parking at the venue is reserved for hotel guests. There is a nearby public car park for all other visitors.

Kufstein is very well connected by train. The venue is only about a 10-minute walk from the railway station.

The venue is located directly at Hotel Andreas Hofer, which is pre-booked for the festival and can be reserved at special rates through our website. There is also a motorhome parking area run by the town of Kufstein near the railway station.

Unfortunately pets are not allowed in the hotel or at the venue. Thank you for your understanding.

Times for booked side events may differ.

With certain festival passes and tickets you can keep playing in the open gaming area after regular opening hours. The game library by “Blick aufs Brett e.V.” and a snack and drinks stand are available for this.

If you spend one day (09:30 – 18:00) explaining assigned games at our explainer tables, you receive a free weekend ticket. You can get all the details at office@spue-ma.tirol.

Register your games online in advance and attach the matching labels. Hand the games in at the flea market – you can collect unsold games at any time. Your proceeds are transferred within 14 days.

Pick a game from the shelf and take it to a free table. After your session, please return the game complete so other visitors can enjoy it too.

Why Spü Ma?

Sometimes all it takes is a single moment – one game, one table, one explanation at the right time – to realise that board games are far more than a way to pass the time.

More than a hobby

Board games bring people together, create encounters and turn into shared experiences.

At the same time, getting started often fails at one simple hurdle: the rules. Many games only reveal their full potential once someone is there to explain them. Without that support they stay on the shelf – and potential players are lost along the way.

The road to Kufstein

Finding like-minded people used to mean travelling a long way: Essen, Berlin, Bremen. Anything but around the corner – especially from an Austrian point of view.

It took Brettspielverein Kufstein to finally connect board game enthusiasts across Tyrol and Upper Bavaria with each other.

After visiting SpielAktiv in Innsbruck, we grew determined to bring a similar event to Kufstein – but with a focus on adults. And so SPÜ MA was born.

And as the name says – Spü Ma is Tyrolean for “let's play” – what matters here is playing together, without the tedious rulebook study.
